ATP Tour

The worldwide men's professional tennis circuit organized by the Association of Tennis Professionals, comprising tournaments across several competitive levels.

ATP Tour Masters 1000: A tier of nine major ATP Tour tournaments ranking below the Grand Slams and above ATP 500 events. These nine events form the circuit’s highest regular-tour tier.
ATP Tour calendar: The annual schedule of tournaments sanctioned by the Association of Tennis Professionals. It organizes the circuit’s events into a season-long sequence.
Association of Tennis Professionals: The organization representing men's professional tennis players and operating the ATP Tour. The ATP created and governs the circuit.
Tennis tournament seeding: The assignment of ranked competitors to separate positions in a tournament draw to reduce early matchups among top players. Tour rankings shape seeding and therefore the path through tournament draws.
WTA Tour: The worldwide women's professional tennis circuit organized by the Women's Tennis Association. It is the parallel elite professional circuit for women's tennis.
ATP Tour 250: A tier of ATP Tour tournaments awarding 250 ranking points to the singles champion. This tier gives the circuit its broadest range of regular events.
Grand Slam (tennis): The four major tennis tournaments: the Australian Open, French Open, Wimbledon, and US Open. Grand Slams are the sport’s biggest events but are not ATP Tour tournaments.
1972 US Open boycott: A player protest against the suspension of Nikola Pilić that led many professionals to withdraw from the 1972 US Open. The dispute exposed players’ demand for a stronger voice in tennis governance.
Tennis tournament draw: The bracket or schedule that determines competitors’ matchups in a tennis event. Tour formats and entry rules determine how each event’s draw is built.
ITF Men's World Tennis Tour: The International Tennis Federation's entry-level men's professional circuit, below the ATP Challenger Tour. It serves players earlier in the professional pathway than the ATP Tour.
