Augustus III of Poland

Augustus III ruled the Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth from 1734 to 1763 and, as Frederick Augustus II, ruled the Electorate of Saxony from 1733 to 1763.

War of the Polish Succession: A European conflict fought from 1733 to 1738 over who would succeed Augustus II as king of Poland. The war secured Augustus’s Polish crown against Stanisław Leszczyński.
Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth: A federative state of Poland and Lithuania that existed from 1569 until 1795. Its elective monarchy and parliamentary institutions constrained Augustus’s rule.
