Australian Plate

The Australian Plate is a major tectonic plate carrying Australia, Tasmania, and parts of the surrounding ocean floor. Its northern and eastern boundaries interact with several neighboring plates.

Indo-Australian Plate: A proposed combined plate encompassing the Australian and Indian plates, which are often treated as distinct plates. The Australian Plate was once commonly mapped as part of this larger plate.
Plate tectonics: The theory that Earth’s lithosphere consists of moving plates whose interactions shape the planet’s surface. The Australian Plate is one moving unit in this global system.
