Autonomous Republic of Crimea

The Autonomous Republic of Crimea is an autonomous republic within Ukraine, covering most of the Crimean Peninsula. Internationally recognized as Ukrainian territory, it has been under Russian control since 2014.

Dissolution of the Soviet Union: The 1991 breakup of the Soviet Union into independent states, including Ukraine and the Russian Federation. Independence made Crimea part of sovereign Ukraine while leaving its status politically contested.
Council of Ministers of Crimea: The executive body of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea under Ukrainian law. It administered regional affairs within the powers assigned to the republic.
