Ayyankali

Ayyankali (1863–1941) was a Dalit leader and social reformer in Travancore who challenged caste exclusion through campaigns for education, mobility, and public access.

Villuvandi Strike: Ayyankali’s 1893 protest ride in a bullock cart challenged caste restrictions on public roads in Travancore. The ride made access to public roads a visible challenge to caste authority.
