Azhdarchidae

Azhdarchidae is a family of mostly large, long-necked pterosaurs known chiefly from the Late Cretaceous. Its members had unusually elongated neck vertebrae and included some of the largest flying animals.

Pterosaur: An extinct group of flying reptiles whose wings were formed by a membrane supported mainly by an elongated fourth finger. Azhdarchids are one family within this group of flying reptiles.
Quetzalcoatlus: A giant azhdarchid pterosaur from the latest Cretaceous of North America. Its remains document one of the largest known flying animals.
Azhdarchid feeding: The range of proposed ways azhdarchid pterosaurs obtained and consumed food. Their long, toothless jaws and terrestrial anatomy prompt competing feeding reconstructions.

Terrestrial locomotion: Movement across land using limbs that support and propel an animal's body. Azhdarchid limb anatomy supports the view that these pterosaurs could walk efficiently.
Tapejaridae: A family of often crested pterosaurs known mainly from the Early Cretaceous. Tapejarids share placement among advanced pterosaurs but differ in size and skull form.
Azhdarchoidea: A clade of pterosaurs that includes Azhdarchidae and several related families. Azhdarchids belong to this broader pterosaur grouping.
Arambourgiania: A large azhdarchid pterosaur known chiefly from a long neck vertebra found in Jordan. Its fragmentary remains provide evidence of giant azhdarchids beyond North America.
