Ba'athist Syria

Ba'athist Syria was the period of Syrian history in which the Arab Socialist Ba'ath Party governed the country, from its 1963 coup until Bashar al-Assad's government fell in 2024.

1963 Syrian coup d'état: A military coup that brought the Arab Socialist Ba'ath Party to power in Syria on 8 March 1963. It began Ba'athist rule and established the emergency-era political order.
Ba'athism: An Arab nationalist and socialist political ideology advocating Arab unity, freedom, and socialism. Its principles provided the ruling party's stated political program.
