Bandeirantes

Bandeirantes were Portuguese colonial-era expeditionaries, especially from São Paulo, who traveled into Brazil’s interior to capture Indigenous people, search for mineral wealth, and claim territory.

Bandeiras: Expeditions organized in colonial Brazil to explore the interior, capture Indigenous people, and seek wealth. These expeditions were the principal form through which bandeirantes operated.
