Bangladesh Liberation War

The 1971 conflict in which Bengali nationalists fought for independence from Pakistan, ending with Pakistan’s surrender and the creation of Bangladesh.

Operation Searchlight: The Pakistani military crackdown launched in East Pakistan on 25 March 1971. Its violence triggered mass flight and intensified Bengali resistance.
Partition of India: The 1947 division of British India into the independent states of India and Pakistan. Partition created Pakistan’s geographically separated eastern and western wings.
