Basotho

The Basotho are a southern African people whose historic homeland is centered in present-day Lesotho. Sesotho is their principal language, and their shared history is closely tied to the kingdom founded by Moshoeshoe I.

Moshoeshoe I: Moshoeshoe I founded the Basotho kingdom in the nineteenth century and ruled it until his death in 1870. His diplomacy and state-building brought diverse communities together as the Basotho nation.
Sesotho: Sesotho is a Southern Bantu language spoken chiefly in Lesotho and South Africa. It is the principal language associated with Basotho communities.
