Battle of Arcole

The Battle of Arcole was fought in northern Italy from 15 to 17 November 1796, when French forces under Napoleon Bonaparte defeated an Austrian army during the War of the First Coalition.

Alpone River: A river in Veneto, Italy, that flows into the Adige near the site of the Battle of Arcole. Its crossing at Arcole became the focal point of repeated French attacks.
