Battle of Berlin

The April–May 1945 battle in which Soviet forces captured Berlin, bringing organized German resistance in the city to an end.

Berlin Strategic Offensive Operation: The Red Army’s final major offensive against Nazi Germany, fought from 16 April to 2 May 1945. This operation comprised the Soviet advance that culminated in Berlin’s capture.
Georgy Zhukov: Soviet marshal who commanded the 1st Belorussian Front during the final offensive against Berlin. His forces made the main assault from the Oder toward the capital.
Vistula–Oder Offensive: A Soviet offensive from January to February 1945 that advanced from the Vistula River to the Oder River. It brought Soviet forces within striking distance of Berlin months before the final assault.
