Battle of Brunanburh

A 937 battle in which King Æthelstan of England defeated an alliance led by Olaf Guthfrithson, Constantine II of Scotland, and Owain of Strathclyde, strengthening England’s unity.

Æthelstan: King of the Anglo-Saxons from 924 and king of the English from 927 to 939. His expansion of English rule helped provoke the alliance that challenged him in 937.
