Battle of Kadesh

A major battle around 1274 BCE between the Egyptian Empire under Ramesses II and the Hittite Empire under Muwatalli II. Its outcome is disputed, though both sides claimed victory.

Ramesses II: An Egyptian pharaoh of the Nineteenth Dynasty who ruled from about 1279 to 1213 BCE. He commanded the Egyptian forces and later made the battle central to his royal image.
