Battle of Kiev (1941)

A major encirclement battle on the Eastern Front in which German forces captured Kyiv and surrounded hundreds of thousands of Soviet troops in 1941.

Operation Barbarossa: Nazi Germany’s 1941 invasion of the Soviet Union, the largest military campaign of the Second World War. The Kiev encirclement was a major operation within Barbarossa’s southern advance.
