Battle of Marj Dabiq

The Battle of Marj Dabiq was fought near Aleppo in 1516, when the Ottoman Empire defeated the Mamluk Sultanate and gained control of Syria.

Selim I: Selim I was Ottoman sultan from 1512 to 1520, leading the empire during its conquest of Mamluk territories. His campaign against the Mamluks brought the Ottoman army to Marj Dabiq.
