Battle of Marston Moor

A decisive English Civil War battle fought near York on 2 July 1644, in which Parliamentarian and Scottish forces defeated the Royalists.

Oliver Cromwell: An English Parliamentarian commander who rose to prominence during the English Civil War. His disciplined cavalry helped drive the Parliamentarian victory on the battlefield’s eastern flank.
English Civil War: The armed conflict between Parliament and King Charles I that began in England in 1642. Marston Moor was a major northern campaign in the wider contest between king and Parliament.
