Battle of Mu'tah

The Battle of Mu'tah was a 629 battle near Mu'tah in present-day Jordan between Muslim forces and Byzantine-allied Arab forces. It was an early military encounter between the emerging Muslim community and the Byzantine sphere.

Zayd ibn Harithah: A close companion of Muhammad who led the Muslim force at Mu'tah and was killed in battle. He was the first of the three commanders named for the expedition, and died during the fighting.
