Battle of Singapore

The Battle of Singapore was a campaign from 8 to 15 February 1942 in which Japanese forces defeated British-led defenders and captured Singapore, a major Allied base in Southeast Asia.

Malayan Campaign: The Japanese advance through British Malaya from December 1941 to January 1942, ending with the capture of Singapore. Its rapid defeat left Singapore isolated and set the conditions for the island assault.
Singapore strategy: British interwar planning to defend Singapore as a naval base and imperial stronghold in East Asia. The campaign exposed the gap between the strategy's naval assumptions and the invasion from Malaya.
