Battle of Tanga

The Battle of Tanga was a German victory over British forces at the port of Tanga in German East Africa on 3–5 November 1914, early in the East African campaign of World War I.

Tanga: A port city on the Indian Ocean coast of present-day Tanzania. Its harbor and town were the immediate objectives of the British landing.
German East Africa: A German colony in East Africa from 1885 until the end of World War I. Tanga was a major port in the colony Britain sought to invade.
