Battle of the Vorskla River

A 1399 battle in which the Golden Horde defeated the army of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania and its allies, halting Vytautas’s expansion into the steppe.

Tokhtamysh: A khan of the Golden Horde who lost power to Timur and later sought support from Lithuania. His alliance with Vytautas brought the exiled khan and Lithuanian forces onto the same battlefield.
Timur: A Central Asian conqueror who founded the Timurid Empire through campaigns across western and central Asia. His wars against Tokhtamysh destabilized the Horde and set the stage for Lithuanian intervention.
