Battle of Wuhan

The Battle of Wuhan was a major 1938 campaign of the Second Sino-Japanese War in which Japanese forces captured Wuhan after months of fighting.

Battle of Xuzhou: A 1938 campaign in which Chinese forces withdrew from Xuzhou after Japanese forces encircled the city. Its conclusion opened the Japanese advance toward Wuhan.
Marco Polo Bridge Incident: A July 1937 clash between Chinese and Japanese troops near Beijing that escalated into full-scale war. It began the war in which Wuhan became a major Japanese objective.
