Beheira Governorate

Beheira Governorate is an administrative region in northern Egypt, west of the Nile Delta, with Damanhur as its capital.

Damanhur: Damanhur is a city in northern Egypt and the capital of Beheira Governorate. It is Beheira’s administrative capital and largest urban center.
Nile Delta agriculture: Nile Delta agriculture is the cultivation of crops on the fertile alluvial soils of the lower Nile basin. Cultivation is a major use of Beheira’s delta land.
Nile Delta land subsidence: Nile Delta land subsidence is the gradual lowering of delta terrain through natural compaction and human activities. Subsidence increases flood exposure in Beheira’s low-lying northern areas.

Alexandria Governorate: Alexandria Governorate is an administrative region in northern Egypt centered on the Mediterranean port city of Alexandria. It borders Beheira to the west and northwest.
Lake Burullus: Lake Burullus is a brackish coastal lagoon in Egypt’s northern Nile Delta, separated from the Mediterranean by a narrow sandbar. Its western reaches connect Beheira to delta lagoon ecosystems.
