bell hooks (1952–2021) was an American author, feminist theorist, cultural critic, and educator. Her writing examined how race, gender, class, and systems of power shape everyday life.

Intersectionality: An analytical framework for understanding how overlapping social categories shape people’s experiences of power and discrimination. Her writing treats race, gender, and class as interlocking structures rather than separate subjects.
Feminist pedagogy: Teaching practices that challenge hierarchy and involve students as active participants in learning. She treated the classroom as a place to practice freedom and critical engagement.
