Aesthetic intuition : Croce’s account of art as intuitive knowledge that gives form to individual impressions. This is the core of his distinctive claim that art expresses intuition rather than concepts.
Historical judgment : An interpretation that understands an event by reconstructing its particular circumstances and significance. Croce held that historical knowledge is judgment about concrete, individual events.
Naples : A major southern Italian city that was Croce’s home and intellectual base. Croce spent most of his life in Naples, where he developed his scholarly and political work.
