Benjamin Tucker

Benjamin Tucker (1854–1939) was an American individualist anarchist, editor, and theorist. Through his newspaper Liberty, he defended individual sovereignty, free exchange, and opposition to monopolies backed by the state.

Josiah Warren: Josiah Warren was an American individualist anarchist who promoted equitable commerce and experimental communities. Warren’s cost-the-limit-of-price principle became a foundation for Tucker’s account of mutualist exchange.

Collectivist anarchism: Collectivist anarchism advocates worker control of production and collective distribution without a state. Tucker rejected compulsory collective arrangements in favor of individual control and voluntary contracts.
Boston anarchists: The Boston anarchists were a loose network of American individualist anarchists active in the late nineteenth century. Tucker’s publishing and debates helped make Boston a center of individualist anarchist activity.
