Benzaldehyde

Benzaldehyde is the aromatic aldehyde C₆H₅CHO, consisting of a benzene ring bonded to a formyl group. It is a colorless liquid with a characteristic bitter-almond odor and is used in synthesis and flavoring.

Aldehyde: An organic compound containing a carbonyl group bonded to at least one hydrogen atom. Benzaldehyde is the aromatic member of this functional-group family.
