Bernard Freyberg

Bernard Freyberg (1889–1963) was a New Zealand soldier who commanded Allied forces in the Battle of Crete and led the 2nd New Zealand Expeditionary Force during World War II.

Peter Fraser: Peter Fraser was New Zealand’s prime minister from 1940 to 1949. As prime minister, Fraser backed Freyberg’s command of New Zealand forces overseas.
Battle of Crete: The 1941 German airborne invasion that captured Crete from Allied forces after ten days of fighting. Freyberg commanded the Allied garrison during the invasion and evacuation.
