Bertram Brockhouse

Bertram Brockhouse (1918–2003) was a Canadian physicist who developed inelastic neutron scattering and neutron spectroscopy, techniques for studying atomic motion and energy in materials.

Inelastic neutron scattering: A neutron-scattering method that measures energy exchanged between neutrons and a sample. Brockhouse developed this method to map the energies and motions of excitations in solids.
University of Toronto: A public research university in Toronto, Canada, founded in 1827. Brockhouse earned his doctorate there before beginning his Chalk River research.
