Beryllium chloride

Beryllium chloride is an inorganic compound with the formula BeCl₂. It is a moisture-sensitive Lewis acid used to produce beryllium and other beryllium compounds.

Beryllium chloride dimer: A molecular unit in which two beryllium atoms are linked by two bridging chlorine atoms. In the vapor, BeCl₂ forms this bridged structure rather than remaining only as isolated linear molecules.
Beryllium production: Industrial processes that extract and refine metallic beryllium from beryllium-bearing materials. BeCl₂ can be converted to metallic beryllium by electrolysis of a molten salt mixture.
