Bicycle-sharing system

A service provides bicycles for shared use, typically through public stations or app-based pickup and return. It lets people make short trips without owning or storing a bicycle.

Docked bike-sharing system: A bicycle-sharing system whose bicycles are checked out from and returned to fixed docking stations. Fixed docks organize pickup, return, and fleet distribution.
First and last mile: The short journey between a transport hub and the trip’s origin or destination. Bike sharing can connect homes and workplaces to stations beyond walking distance.
