Biobío Region

An administrative region in central Chile, bordering the Pacific Ocean and centered on Concepción. It combines a major metropolitan area with coastal, agricultural, forested, and Andean landscapes.

Concepción: A city in south-central Chile and the capital of Biobío Region. It anchors the region’s metropolitan area and serves as its regional capital.
Port of San Vicente: A commercial port in the Bay of San Vicente near Talcahuano, Chile. It handles cargo for the region’s industrial and export economy.
Mapuche people: An Indigenous people of south-central Chile and southwestern Argentina. Mapuche communities have longstanding ties to the region, especially Arauco.
