Bishwa Ijtema

Bishwa Ijtema is an annual Islamic missionary gathering held at Tongi, near Dhaka, Bangladesh. It brings together Muslim participants from Bangladesh and around the world for prayer, religious instruction, and fellowship.

Tablighi Jamaat: A transnational Islamic revivalist movement that encourages Muslims to strengthen religious practice through preaching and personal example. The movement organizes the gathering and gives its missionary program its character.
Muhammad Ilyas Kandhlawi: An Indian Islamic scholar who founded Tablighi Jamaat in the 1920s. His movement provided the religious organization from which the gathering developed.

Dua: A personal or communal supplication addressed to God in Islam. The concluding mass supplication is among the gathering’s most prominent moments.
Bangladesh: A country in South Asia, bordered by India and Myanmar, with Dhaka as its capital. The gathering’s location and national history are inseparable from Bangladesh.
