Bivalve

A bivalve is a mollusk whose body is enclosed by two shells joined at a hinge. Clams, oysters, mussels, and scallops are bivalves.

Mollusca: Mollusca is the animal phylum that includes snails, octopuses, and bivalves. Bivalves are one branch of this diverse phylum.
Filter feeding: Filter feeding is a feeding strategy that removes suspended particles from water or air. Many bivalves draw water across their gills to collect food.
