BMW, formally Bayerische Motoren Werke AG, is a German manufacturer of cars and motorcycles headquartered in Munich.

Karl Rapp: Karl Rapp was a German engineer and entrepreneur who founded Rapp Motorenwerke in Munich in 1913. His engine company preceded the organization that became BMW.
