Bodawpaya

Bodawpaya was a Konbaung king of Burma who ruled from 1782 to 1819. His reign expanded Burmese power through military campaigns and included the annexation of Arakan.

Alaungpaya: Alaungpaya founded the Konbaung dynasty and reunified much of Burma in the eighteenth century. Bodawpaya was Alaungpaya’s son and inherited the kingdom built by his campaigns.
Annexation of Arakan: The annexation of Arakan was the Konbaung conquest of the western kingdom in 1784–1785. It was one of Bodawpaya’s most consequential territorial acquisitions.
Konbaung army: The Konbaung army was the military force of Burma’s Konbaung dynasty. Its campaigns enabled Bodawpaya to seize territory but could not secure every conquest.
Mingun Pahtodawgyi: Mingun Pahtodawgyi is an unfinished monumental stupa begun under Bodawpaya near the Irrawaddy River. The project became the most visible surviving monument to his reign.
Bagyidaw: Bagyidaw was a Konbaung king who ruled Burma from 1819 to 1837. He succeeded Bodawpaya and inherited the consequences of his territorial expansion.
Arakan: Arakan is a coastal region of western Myanmar, historically home to the Mrauk-U kingdom. Its conquest brought a distinct coastal kingdom under Bodawpaya’s rule.
Burmese–Siamese wars: The Burmese–Siamese wars were a series of conflicts between Burmese and Siamese states from the sixteenth through nineteenth centuries. Bodawpaya’s failed invasion belonged to this long struggle over regional supremacy.
Mingun Bell: The Mingun Bell is a large bronze bell cast by order of Bodawpaya in the early nineteenth century. It survives as a major artifact of the royal building program at Mingun.
Tharrawaddy Min: Tharrawaddy Min was a Konbaung king of Burma from 1837 to 1846. His reign followed the First Anglo-Burmese War, fought during the dynasty Bodawpaya strengthened.
Invasion of Siam (1785–1786): The invasion of Siam in 1785–1786 was a major Konbaung military campaign against the Siamese kingdom. Bodawpaya’s attempt to conquer Siam ended in defeat despite his expanded forces.
