Books of Samuel

The Books of Samuel are two biblical books narrating Israel’s transition from rule by judges to monarchy and the reigns of Saul and David.

Samuel (prophet): A prophet and judge who anoints Saul and David as kings of Israel. His leadership frames the transition from judgeship to monarchy.
Hebrew Bible: The collection of Jewish scriptures that forms the Christian Old Testament’s core. The Books of Samuel belong to its historical narrative and prophetic traditions.
