Brian Clough
Brian Clough (1935–2004) was an English footballer and manager who led Derby County and Nottingham Forest to league titles and European Cup victories.
Derby County F.C.: An English football club based in Derby, founded in 1884. Clough built Derby into champions of England during his first major managerial success.
Peter Taylor: An English football manager and coach who worked closely with Brian Clough. Taylor complemented Clough’s leadership, especially through talent identification and coaching.
Middlesbrough F.C.: An English football club based in Middlesbrough, founded in 1876. Clough scored prolifically for Middlesbrough before a serious injury curtailed his playing career.
The Damned United: A 2006 novel by David Peace about Brian Clough’s brief tenure at Leeds United. The novel shaped popular memory of Clough’s 44-day spell at Leeds through fictionalized interior narration.
