Bride price

Bride price is property or money transferred by a groom or his family to a bride’s family as part of a marriage arrangement. Its form and meaning vary across societies.

Dowry: Property or money that a bride or her family transfers to a groom or his family at marriage. It moves wealth in the opposite direction from bride price.
