British Guiana

British Guiana was a British colony on the northern coast of South America, occupying the territory of present-day Guyana from 1814 until independence in 1966.

Essequibo (colony): A Dutch colony on the Essequibo River that later became part of British Guiana. Britain acquired Essequibo from the Netherlands in 1814.
