Buckminster Fuller

Buckminster Fuller (1895–1983) was an American architect, inventor, and systems theorist who promoted geodesic domes and designed the Dymaxion House.

Geodesic dome: A spherical or partial-spherical structure built from interconnected triangles. Fuller popularized this lightweight structure as a way to enclose large spaces with little material.
Dymaxion car: A streamlined three-wheeled vehicle designed by Buckminster Fuller and built in prototypes in the 1930s. It extended his design approach from buildings to personal transportation.
Great Depression: A severe worldwide economic downturn that began in 1929 and lasted through much of the 1930s. The crisis formed the backdrop to Fuller’s early efforts to rethink housing and production.
Anne Hewlett Fuller: An American sculptor and Buckminster Fuller’s first wife, whom he married in 1917. She shared the period in which Fuller’s early personal and professional ambitions took shape.

Whole Earth Catalog: A counterculture publication that compiled tools, books, and resources for self-sufficient living. Its editors drew on Fuller’s systems ideas and featured his work prominently.
