Byzantine–Sasanian frontier

The shifting border zone between the Byzantine and Sasanian empires in the Near East, shaped by wars, diplomacy, fortifications, and control of key routes.

Dara: A Byzantine fortress city in northern Mesopotamia, built under Anastasius I near the Sasanian frontier. Its defenses anchored a major sector of the frontier after its construction in the early sixth century.
