Cambodian–Vietnamese War

A conflict that began with Vietnam’s 1978 invasion of Democratic Kampuchea, toppled the Khmer Rouge government, and continued as Vietnamese forces fought Cambodian resistance until 1989.

Vietnamese invasion of Cambodia: Vietnam’s December 1978 military campaign that captured Phnom Penh and overthrew Democratic Kampuchea’s government. This offensive began the war and rapidly ended Khmer Rouge rule in the capital.
