Cantabrian Wars

The Cantabrian Wars were Roman campaigns against the Cantabri and Astures in northern Hispania from 29 to 19 BCE. Their defeat ended the peoples’ independence and brought the region under Roman rule.

Augustan campaigns in Hispania: Military operations under Augustus that extended or secured Roman control across the Iberian Peninsula. The Cantabrian Wars formed the final major phase of Augustus’s conquest of Hispania.
