Canton of Lucerne

A canton in central Switzerland, centered on the city of Lucerne. It joined the Swiss Confederation in 1332 and became one of its founding members.

Old Swiss Confederacy: A loose alliance of Swiss cantons and allied territories that developed from the late thirteenth century until 1798. Lucerne joined this evolving confederation in 1332.
