Carl Bosch

Carl Bosch (1874–1940) was a German chemist and industrialist who developed large-scale high-pressure chemical processes and shared the 1931 Nobel Prize in Chemistry with Friedrich Bergius.

Haber–Bosch process: An industrial process that synthesizes ammonia from nitrogen and hydrogen under high pressure with a catalyst. Bosch engineered Fritz Haber's laboratory method into a process capable of large-scale production.
High-pressure chemistry: The study and use of chemical reactions conducted at pressures far above atmospheric pressure. Bosch's industrial work established methods for conducting chemistry reliably at extreme pressures.
