Carl Gustav Jacob Jacobi

Carl Gustav Jacob Jacobi (1804–1851) was a German mathematician whose work shaped the theory of elliptic functions, number theory, and analytical mechanics.

Elliptic function: A meromorphic function that is doubly periodic in the complex plane. Jacobi developed the first systematic theory of these functions.
