Carl Woese

Carl Woese was an American microbiologist who used ribosomal RNA comparisons to establish Archaea as a distinct domain of life and reshape biological classification.

George E. Fox: An American microbiologist who collaborated with Carl Woese on the discovery of Archaea through ribosomal RNA analysis. Fox was Woese’s close collaborator in identifying a deeply distinct group of microorganisms.
