Carlotta Grisi

Carlotta Grisi (1819–1899) was an Italian ballerina who created the title role in Giselle at its Paris premiere in 1841.

Giselle: A Romantic ballet about a peasant girl who dies of heartbreak and joins a company of spirits called Wilis. Grisi created the title role in its 1841 Paris premiere.
Jules Perrot: A French dancer and choreographer who became a leading figure in nineteenth-century ballet. He choreographed Giselle and several roles associated with Grisi.
Visinada: A village in Istria, then part of the Austrian Empire and now in Croatia, where Carlotta Grisi was born. It was Grisi's birthplace in 1819.
