Casimir IV Jagiellon

Casimir IV Jagiellon was king of Poland from 1447 to 1492 and grand duke of Lithuania from 1440 to 1492. His reign strengthened the Jagiellonian dynasty and expanded its influence in Central Europe.

Thirteen Years’ War: A war between the Kingdom of Poland and the Teutonic Order fought from 1454 to 1466. Casimir’s victory ended Teutonic control over western Prussia and secured Poland’s access to the Baltic.
Jagiellonian dynasty: A dynasty that ruled Poland and Lithuania and, at various times, Bohemia and Hungary from the late fourteenth to the sixteenth century. Casimir’s descendants extended the dynasty’s reach across Central Europe.
Władysław II Jagiełło: Grand duke of Lithuania and king of Poland whose descendants founded the Jagiellonian dynasty. Casimir was his grandson and inherited a dynasty established through Władysław’s Polish-Lithuanian alliance.
